The Dendrobium Nobilis, also known as the Noble Dendrobium Orchid, is a stunning flowering orchid prized for its cascading clusters of white or pink blooms. Unlike some orchids, the Dendrobium Nobilis is known for being relatively easy to care for, making it a great choice for novice orchid enthusiasts.
Plant Care Tips:
Light: Dendrobium Nobilis thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. East or south-facing windows with sheer curtains are ideal. Avoid direct midday sun, which can burn the leaves.
Water: Water your Dendrobium Nobilis when the pseudobulbs (the swollen sections at the base of the leaves) begin to shrivel slightly. Allow the potting mix to dry out almost completely between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
Humidity: Moderate humidity is preferred. Grouping plants together or using a pebble tray filled with water can help increase humidity levels. You can also mist the plant occasionally, but avoid getting water on the flowers.
Temperature: Dendrobium Nobilis prefers warm temperatures between 18-25°C (64-77°F) during the day and slightly cooler temperatures at night (around 15°C or 59°F). Avoid placing the orchid near drafts or sudden temperature fluctuations.
Fertilizer: During the active growing season (spring and summer), fertilize your Dendrobium Nobilis with a diluted orchid fertilizer every two weeks. Withhold fertilizer during the resting period (fall and winter).
Blooming: To encourage blooming, provide your orchid with a cooler resting period in fall and winter. Reduce watering frequency and keep the temperature slightly cooler. Once new growth appears, resume normal care.
Toxicity: Fortunately, Dendrobium Nobilis is non-toxic to humans and pets.
